OKYO: Christmas came early for Katon Bagaskara this year, as he was spotted performing “Jingle Bells” and “I’ll be Home for Christmas” at Heisei Plaza in Odaiba, Tokyo, last Sunday, Dec. 4.
Dini Apliana, a secretary at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, confirmed Katon’s appearance at the Christmas celebration. Held by the Tokyo-based Indonesian Christian Society, the celebration was attended by over 400 people.
Katon, who rose to fame after releasing an album with the KLa Project in 1988, performed some of his hits at the event. The celebration also saw a stellar performance by Kai, a choir group comprised of Japanese and Indonesian members.
Also present was the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Muhammad Lutfi, who expressed his joy at the opportunity to meet with the Indonesian Christian Society there.
