AKARTA: Yohanes Waworuntu, the businessman who was recently acquitted of graft charges by the Supreme Court on appeal, walked out of prison on Friday.
Yohanes was sentenced to four years imprisonment for his role in a graft case centered on online registration website developed by the Law and Human Rights Ministry (www.sisminbakhum.com). He was the second person acquitted in the case after the conviction of Romli Atmasasmita, the ministry’s former legal administration chief, was overturned by the Supreme Court in December last year.
Yohanes was the president director of PT Sarana Rekatama Dinamika (SRD), which won the tender to create the website. The contract SRD signed with the ministry stipulated that the firm would receive 90 percent of the website’s revenue while ministry’s cooperatives would take the rest.
The cases of two other suspects in the case, former minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra and former ministry public legal administration chief Zulkarnain Yunus, are still under judgment.
