alembang: At least 32 of the 52 parliaments among Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) member countries are scheduled to take part in the seventh Parliamentary Union of the OIC (PUIC) conference here.
An expert staff member of the South Sumatra governor’s office, Nasrun Umar, said that the conference would be held from Tuesday, Jan. 24 to the following Tuesday. Representatives due to take part in the conference include those from Malaysia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Turkey, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Pakistan and Palestine.
In order to welcome the conference’s attendees, the provincial culture and tourism office prepared a number of tourism programs, including delegate visits to historic places in Palembang, such as Kuto Besak fort, Mesjid Agung Grand Mosque, Jakabaring Sport City, Balaputra Dewa Museum, Bukit Siguntang and local industry centers.
