Jakarta: The Supreme Court is set to issue its verdict for a case review by former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Antasari Azhar who was convicted in a murder case.
Supreme Court justice Harifin A. Tumpa said the verdict would be issued next month. “If there is no hurdle, the verdict will be issued by mid February,” Harifin said on the sidelines of a regional judicial integrity workshop in Jakarta on Thursday.
The Supreme Court had rejected an earlier appeal made by Antasari who was sentenced to 18 years in prison for ordering the murder of businessman Nasrudin Zulkarnaen. Antasari denied his role in the murder.
He questioned the fact that the bullet found on the crime scene did not match with the firearm used to gun down Nasrudin. Also, the whereabouts of the clothes worn by Nasrudin at the time of his killing remain unknown.
Harifin, who heads a team working on this case, said his office was still analyzing information to support the verdict.
