National Intelligence Agency (BIN) director Lt. Gen. Marciano Norman said on Friday that law enforcement and military personnel had begun screening for weapons after armed groups infiltrated Papuan cities.
“We are now deepening our investigation and looking for information on where these groups come from
and who they are,” Marciano told reporters before departing for Ambon, Maluku, as part of a presidential
delegation.

Do not look at a case by one point of view only. We Indonesians who live on Java Island can get whatever we want. On the other hand, Papuan communities never get anything. They have less education, less health care, less transportation, etc.
If we compare Java’s wealth and Papua’s, Java is nothing. Papua has a mountain of gold that nowadays is associated with Freeport, but they never get their rights. Think about it before you say something bad about them.

I hope generals Marciano and Darmono handle this issue with care; otherwise we might lose another territory, just like East Timor.

What about the armed groups in Jakarta that the US put on its War on Terror list? Can we go after these instead of Papuans?

In the name of Indonesian unity, we have to do everything to keep Papua intact. We have to solve the root problems facing the people of Papua, and the government, which has the authority to address the grievances, must act as soon as possible.
If the series of shootings are considered crimes, then law enforcement must come first. If there is foreign intervention aimed at threatening Indonesian security and order, we have to fight to the end to keep our national integrity.

We believe there are ex-Army men paid to make it happen. Politically, it will yield to the UN.

Democracy was stopped in West Papua Melanesia with its handover to the Indonesian generals’ regime back in 1963, directed by the US. Denying Papuan universal rights won’t help: Papuans do not need more autonomy lies.
Stalling and diverting attention from West Papua Melanesia’s genuine right to self determination won’t help as state violence and the murder of Papuans will come out. This is not another East Timor scenario. West Papua must be opened up to aid and health care workers and to the media in order for them to do their necessary work.
The Netherlands, through an International Court of Justice (ICJ)advisory opinion, must hold RI accountable for the wrongful implementation of the 1962 New York Agreement, which still needs to be re implemented according to its merits and purpose (the referendum obligation so that the 1969 “Act of No Choice” can be corrected).
The US (also for Freeport’s sake) has to take back West Papua and restore its own sovereignty by using the UN-C24 based on international law principles.
By following up on the 1947 Canberra Agreement and the 1951 ANZUS Treaty, RI’s time in West Papua Melanesia is definitely over. First is justice, then peace.
