AKARTA: The head of the Jakarta Tax Office, Iwan Setiawandi, said on Monday that the tax counters at five shopping malls across the city had managed to collect Rp 110.516 billion (US$11.71 million) from vehicle taxation from January to May this year.
He said that the tax revenue gathered during the period had accounted for 44 percent of this year’s target of Rp 3.5 trillion.
The tax counters are located in the Mal Artha Gading in North Jakarta, Mal Taman Palem in West Jakarta, PGC Cililitan in East Jakarta and South Jakarta’s Blok M Square and Gandaria City mall.
“We just opened new counter in Thamrin City [Central Jakarta] several days ago, so we haven’t received a report on the tax revenue it has gathered,” Iwan was quoted as saying by Beritajakarta.com.
Since their openings, the tax counters have become a favorite, offering a no-hassle service. According to Iwan, a counter once facilitated 1,224 vehicle owners and booked over Rp 830 million in one day.
