AKARTA: Publicly listed Bank Jabar Banten (BJB) will sponsor the Indonesia Festival Seattle (IFS) 2012 slated to run from July 5 to 6 at Kane Hall University of Washington and Westlake Park.
The annual festival, held by Indonesian Community Seattle (Indocomsea) in cooperation with the Indonesian consulate general in San Francisco, California, US, will promote Indonesian culture to Americans, said BJB international division head Syamsu Willo on Saturday.
IFS will showcase Karawitan (classical Javanese music accompanied by Gamelan) performed by the Indonesian Arts College (STSI) Bandung and Gigi Art of Dance Jakarta, involving 25 dancers and musicians.
In addition to promoting Indonesian culture, the regional development bank will also use the event to assess potential future partnerships with the US government in the banking sector.
As the first step, BJB will be meeting with the local government of Bellevue City in Washington state as well as West Bandung regent H. Abubakar.
