Fire has gutted around 80 houses on Jl. Tongkol, Ancol, North Jakarta, leaving approximately 300 people homeless.
The fire on Friday, which claimed no lives, started around 2 p.m. and quickly swept through the neighborhood located beside railway tracks. The local fire department deployed 30 fire trucks to the scene and put out the fire at 4 p.m.
A North Jakarta Fire Department’ firefighter, Ridwan, said that the blaze originated from the house of a resident named Nandar, 40.
