I

t was Sunday morning and the ritual of weekly cleaning was upon me again. I opened my refrigerator and looked at its contents: cookies, snacks, chocolate, fruit, milk, mayonnaise and
other food.

I also found some expired beverages, withered vegetables and other rotten foods. To be honest, I hadn’t checked my refrigerator for more than a month.

I stared at the food waste and wondered how my fridge had come to this. I had learned about nutrition, so why didn’t I apply it? I had been careless.

More than 1 billion people live in hunger. If I myself had accumulated approximately 1 kilogram of food waste, so how many kilograms do we all produce each day?

Waste management definitely exists, despite naturally composting mechanisms; don’t you feel guilty whenever we can’t finish your meal? Don’t you think our lifestyle is not efficient enough?

Can you imagine what happens to expired products in the food industry?

They are burnt rather than managed. For example, we need to separate wrappers from food manually. I wonder how technology could be helpful here? Humans don’t efficiently consume their food.

An abundance of food has been produced, but there are always leftovers on our plate. How much of your breakfast, lunch and dinner do you leave uneaten?

There are billions of people eating every day, so we must be aware of living efficiently!
