The Lampung court sentenced Singer Andika Mahesa, formerly the frontman of local music group Kangen Band, to seven months in jail for kidnapping a teenager .
The singer was shocked with the sentence, news portal Kompas.com reported.
“Yes, Andika was shocked, but after [we] explained, Andika accepted the punishment,” Ferry Juan, Andika’s lawyer, said.
Previously, prosecutors had recommended the singer get 10 months in prison.
Ferry Juan said his client accepted the punishment and has no intention to file an appeal.
This is not Andika’s first brush with the law. Last year, he was arrested along with all his then-bandmates for alleged possession of illegal substances. Earlier this year, he was reported by his third wife for alleged domestic violence.
