cargo aircraft operated by PT Trigana ran off the runway at Wamena airport at around 4:30 p.m. local time on Monday, an official has said.

'€œI'€™ve just received a report that an aircraft has run off the runway; but fortunately, there were no victims during the incident,'€ head of Wamena airport in Jayawijaya, Papua, Junikar Pakondo, told The Jakarta Post.

He said the incident occurred when the aircraft'€™s front wheel ran five meters over the end of the runway.

'€œThe aircraft was then pulled back onto the runway,'€ said Junikar, adding that the cargo aircraft departed from Jayapura to Wamena airport.

In a previous incident, a Trigana-operated British Aerospace 146-type cargo aircraft caught fire at Wamena airport on May 8 when unloading cargo. No victims were recorded during the incident. (fan/ebf)
