team of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators questioned on Wednesday former Bank Indonesia (BI) deputy staffer Galoeh Andita Widorini as a witness in a corruption case on the extension of minimum requirements for short-term assistance (FPJP) to Bank Century.
'She was questioned as a witness for suspect BM [Budi Mulya],' said the commission's chief of information and media Priharsa Nugraha on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Galoeh was questioned at the Indonesian Embassy to Australia in Canberra, where she was pursuing her post-graduate degree.
According to the KPK, the questioning of Galoeh is to complete the case files of the non-active BI deputy governor, Budi Mulya, who has been named a suspect of alleged corrupt practices in the Bank Century bailout case.
'There are several considerations why she has been questioned there. Only the investigators know this,' said KPK spokesman Johan Budi on Tuesday.
According to Johan, two KPK investigators departed for Australia on Monday evening.
It is not the first time the KPK has questioned witnesses in the Century case abroad.
Previously, KPK investigators questioned former finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and former BI director for banking research and regulation Wimboh Santoso at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC, the US.
KPK chairman Abraham Samad said during the questioning of Sri Mulyani, investigators obtained new information that could disclose the intellectual actors of the Century case, as long as it was supported by information from Century suspect Budi Mulya. (fan/ebf)
