he police have produced an artist'€™s impression of the man they are hunting forthe rape of a female journalist near Jl. Pramuka Raya, East Jakarta last week.

Jakarta police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said the information regarding the rapist'€™s physical appearance was obtained from the victim herself, who is still hospitalized, after preliminary questioning conducted under psychological monitoring.

'€œThe victim said that the man who raped her was young,approximately 18 years old, with spiky hair and dark skin. He was wearing a tight black shirt at the time of the attack,'€ he said.

Rikwanto said the police had also questioned residents living near the crime scene to see whether they were familiar with the physical characteristics as shown in the sketch.

'€œSo far we are still in the dark but we will keep searching,'€ he said on Friday.

He said the police had questioned six witnesses, comprising the victim, her husband and four local residents.

The victim was raped while waiting for her husband to pick her up  on Jl.Pramuka Raya. (ogi/dic)
