evenprisoners escaped from the Hinai narcotics prison in Langkat district, NorthSumatra on Saturdaymorning. The police report that they have recaptured two of the escapees, withthe assistance of local residents.

'€œThe two were caught hiding in bushes near a local resident'€™s house,'€ Langkat Police'€™s crime desk head Adj. Comr. Rosyid Hartanto said on Saturday.

He said the two were identified as Togar and Sarpono, previously detained at the Tanjung Gusta Penitentiary. These prisoners were among dozens of prisoners who managed to flee the prison during a riot earlier this year. They were detained in Langkat due to a lack of accommodation in Tanjung Gusta.

The other five prisoners who remain at large have been identified as Romi Hidayat, Syamsuddin, Ilham, Supratoyo and Diki Arisandi.

Currently, Rosyid added, the police were questioning three prison guards who were on duty when the breakout took place.

'€œWe want to find out what they know about the escape,'€ he said.

Hinai prison chief warden Dapat Sembiring confirmed the questioning of his staff members and said he would cooperate with the police in pursuing the escaped prisoners.(dic)
