P

resident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his family will spend New Year'€™s Eve at the Cipanas Palace in Cianjur regency, West Java, a high-ranking transportation official said.

West Java Transportation Agency chief Dedi Taufik said the Puncak route would be closed on Tuesday starting from 7 p.m.

'€œThe route is closed because the President will be there,'€ he said on Monday. '€œOn New Year'€™s Eve, congestion spots will be around tourist spots. We have mapped 454 such spots in West Java.'€

Meanwhile, Cianjur Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Dedy Kusuma Bakti urged the public to pay attention to road closure schedules.

Dedy said the road would be closed to all vehicle types, but schedules were different.

Heavy trucks and buses are not allowed to use the Puncak route from Tuesday 6 a.m. until Thursday. Those heading to Jakarta will be rerouted through Cikalong Kulon-Cibeet-Jonggol.

Private vehicles and public minivans are not allowed to pass from Tuesday at 7 p.m. until Wednesday 4 a.m. Dedy said that locals, however, could use the road after showing their ID cards.
