T

o help control the high rate of malnutrition among children in Semarang city, Central Java, the municipal Health Agency has established a program called Nutrition House aimed at monitoring the health and nutrition of kids in the region.

'€œWe want to keep fighting against malnutrition, especially through the establishment of a nutrition house in Banyumanik,'€ agency head Widoyono said in Semarang on Friday.

Widoyono said that in 2013 there were 32 cases of malnutrition involving children under 3 years old, or slightly down from 39 cases in the previous year.

Last December, Rafli Romadhon, 11, of Gunungpati district was reported to have only weighed seven kilograms, much lower than the average weight of children of his age '€” 30 kilograms.

At the newly established nutrition house in Banyumanik, he said, health and nutrition monitoring was being conducted directly by pediatricians. '€œAll services are free.'€
