overnor Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo said that the cityadministration had two low-cost apartments to accommodate residents of KampungPulo in East Jakarta who have been displacedby the annual floods.

'€œSome will be relocated to the low-cost apartments in Cipinang Besar Selatan and others to Komaruddin apartments in Cakung, East Jakarta,'€ he said at City Hall on Friday.

The Social Affairs Agency head on Thursday revealed that Kampung Pulo residents had agreed to the relocation after six months of persuasion by the city administration.

Residents that live in illegal dwellings on the embankments of Ciliwung River will be assigned an apartment while those that have built homes on land they own will receive compensation.

'€œOnce the area is cleared, we will begin work on strengthening the river bank,'€ the governor said.
