orontalo Police chief Brig. Gen. Andjaya has saidhis office will deploy 3,722 personnel to safeguard this year'€™s elections. Thepersonnel, he added, would be dispatched to 2,322 polling stations in theregion.

He said the election-safeguarding operation would be dubbed '€˜Operation Mantab Jaya'€™ and would last for 224 days from before the legislative election in April and continue until after the presidential election. He said the operation would prioritize preventive action by using intelligence and law enforcement.

He also warned every policeman to act with integrity and impartiality when dealing with problems related to the legislative and presidential elections.

The elections will commence in April 9 with the legislative election followed by the presidential election on July 9. Twelve political parties are registered to participate in the elections.(dic)
