he Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) secured 285 of a total 967 votes at the Overseas Polling Station (TPSLN) London for the legislative election, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the Gerindra Party ranked second with 82 votes each.

Indonesian Ambassador to UK T M Hamzah Thayeb, his wife Lastry Thayeb and staff from the Indonesian Embassy, were present at the vote counting. Witnesses from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the Election Observatory Committee (Panwaslu) London as well as representatives of Indonesian communities in London and its surrounding areas were also present, an embassy senior official said as reported by Antara on Sunday.

The counting of votes from the poll in London which was held on April 5 was conducted by officials from the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) and Overseas Election Organizer (KPPSLN). Eleven votes were deemed to be invalid.

'€œOf the total valid votes, the PDI-P led the legislative poll, followed by the PKS and Gerindra,'€ embassy first secretary Heni Hamidah said.

The National Mandate Party (PAN) came third with 61 votes; followed by the Golkar Party (48 votes); the Democratic Party (37 votes); the National Awakening Party or PKB (27 votes); the United Development Party or PPP (22 votes); the Nasdem Party (14 votes); the Crescent Star Party or PBB (12 votes); the Hanura Party (10 votes) and the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party or PKPI (6 votes).

Heni said most of the voters in UK and Ireland cast their ballots via post. '€œThe absentee vote counting will be conducted at the KBRI on Tuesday,'€ she said. (ebf)
