AKARTA: A subsidiary of Tata Motors Limited and the sole authorized agent of Tata Motors in Indonesia, PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia, says that it is developing medium-sized buses to serve as Kopaja in Jakarta.
Kopaja, which stands for Koperasi Angkutan Jakarta (Jakarta Transportation Cooperative) are medium-sized buses that have 25 seats.
'We are currently developing medium-sized buses for Kopaja, both air-conditioned ones and the economy class Kopaja,' PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia president director Biswadev Sengupta said in Jakarta on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
He said that both types of buses were expected to hit the road in the next three to four months.
The Indian company would supply the engines and chassis, while the body of the bus would be manufactured by a carrosserie maker, he added.
Sengupta also said that the new Kopaja could be used both as feeders for the Transjakarta busway and as regular buses.
In addition, he said that the company was interested in supplying buses for the Transjakarta busway in the future.
'We have talked about this matter with the Jakarta city administration,' he added.
