nternational forensic experts will hold the World Congress on Medical Law to discuss medical-related aspects for law enforcement in Nusa Dua, Bali from Aug. 22 to 24.
'One of the topics we will focus on in the international congress is on law enforcement in health-related crimes,' said the congress' president, M. Nasser, as quoted by Antara news agency on Sunday.
He said the congress would be attended by law, forensic, health law and health bioethics experts, practitioners and researchers from various countries.
Nasser said the health-related legal issues to be discussed in the meeting included health law, medical law, legal medicine, forensic medicine, bioethics and medical ethics.
'We aim to discuss the topics because there are a lot of differences in the implementation of health criminal law in each country,' said Nasser, who is also the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) commissioner.
Nine experts from countries that have successfully implemented social protection schemes are scheduled to make presentations at the meeting. 'We will discuss the government's policies on national health insurance managed by the Social Security Management Agency (BPJS) health sector,' said Nasser.
In its meeting in Zagreb, Croatia in 2010, the World Association on Medical Law (WAML) appointed Indonesia to host the 20th World Congress of Medical Law. The congress, held in cooperation with the Indonesian Health Law Society (MHKI), will discuss 260 medical law-related themes.
Attorney General Basrief Arief, Supreme Court chief justice Hatta Ali, Constitutional Court chief justice Hamdan Zoelva and National Police chief Sutarman are scheduled to attend the meeting. (put/ebf)
