span class="inline inline-center">Fashion trend: Women select Muslim headscarves at Thamrin City market in Central Jakarta. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has warned against Muslim women wearing '€œjilboob'€, a fashion trend in which Muslim women wear headscarves, but with tight trousers and form-fitting or sheer blouses. Your comments on a statement made by Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) deputy chairman Ma'€™ruf Amin that '€œjilboob'€, a fashion trend in which Muslim women wear headscarves with tight trousers and form-fitting or sheer blouses, is haram:

As a Muslim organization, the MUI has a right to issue such a fatwa after considering the mudharat (disadvantages) of jilboob.

Jilboob stimulate the nasty minds of people to do bad things to a woman dressed in jilboob.

Thus, it is not recommended to wear in public, but at home it is OK.

Considering jilboob haram is not quite right. It is in fact a dress code development in anticipation of the modern world where women don'€™t want to be left behind; strapped tight in religious attire that doesn'€™t adjust to international trends.

Progressive women don'€™t want to be left behind. This is why they don'€™t want to endanger themselves by riding sideways on the back of a motorcycle as recommended by their old-fashioned religion.

This simply means that the women are more progressive than Muslim men.

I simply cannot imagine Muslim women staying idle only to produce children and cater to their men.

Progress simply cannot make women stay idle. Israeli women join the Israeli military in men'€™s military attire with a male haircut, among other things, to be able to do the activities required.

Muslim women here are Indonesians and are free to join our military, be it the Army, Navy or Air Force.

Certainly jilboob or a modification thereof would not meet the requirements of our military'€™s practical attire.

I personally cannot agree with the fact that our women cannot join our armed forces just because they will not or cannot leave behind the jilboob.
