Your comments on the selection process of president-elect Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo'€™s Cabinet members, who are expected to be predominantly professionals:

No matter who will be appointed in the new Cabinet, it will be good as long as they have great dedication and keep away from corruption. Good luck Pak Jokowi.

No matter how tough the situation is, if there is only one man who has the shoulders to carry the burden, Jokowi is that man.

Choosing professionals to deal with their respective duties is the wisest decision to make. Maybe then, jobs will be done and budgets spent accordingly.

God bless you and your team, Pak Jokowi!

Philippe Marland

Jokowi and his team are honest and experienced, but they need to learn from the previous government about handling economic issues.

They have designed the programs, which should be filled with competent ministers.

Sinaga Harbili

Amid the fading global economy recovery, it is almost certain, Jokowi and his administration will face tough times in the years ahead.

But the question arises whether there is a tug-of-war happening among the coalition parties; everything remains secretive to date.

Given no prior political horse-trading, he could have picked easily from his own free will the best people for the right jobs.

Isn'€™t it very promising that our new Cabinet would be chosen from among the professionals?

The laughable question is: '€œWhy only now after almost seven decades of independence?!'€

It really takes Jokowi to initiate the correct, noble move, to revive the peoples'€™ remaining enthusiasm.

In this way, I can imagine the interest of foreign businessmen in participating in our economic development. We can hope Jokowi'€™s political opposition will not be crazy enough to thwart the favorable economic development for the sake of almost seven decades of the suffering of the majority of people.

Jokowi faces a hard job to compose a Cabinet consisting of pure- and party-professionals.

In my opinion, a minister should not only be a professional but also a proper manager.

Up till now, the selection process has been done discreetly. What if the selected candidate is not prepared to take up the offered job?

Well, people don'€™t really care about the people but expect to be served by a well-run effective Cabinet.

Burning issue

The government has so far failed to handle the forest and peat fires in Sumatra, while smoke and haze continue to prevent students from attending school and disrupt flights in the region. What should the government do to solve the problem?
