tate-owned insurance company PT Jasa Raharja is aiming to see a 10.7-percent increase in its premium income to Rp 5 trillion (US$396.5 million) this year from Rp 4.7 trillion last year, driven by a growing number of motor vehicles in the country.
'We hope to see around a 10.7 percent increase in our premium income this year, in line with the projected growth in the number of motor vehicles,' Jasa Raharja president director Budi Setyarso said on Tuesday.
The growth in the premium income would bring a total of Rp 11.4 trillion in fund under management this year, a 22.6 percent surge from Rp 9.3 trillion last year, he went on.
Most of the company's premium income is invested in fixed income and stock market investment instruments.
Budi said that his firm was aiming to pocket Rp 918 billion from investment this year to pay compensation to accident victims and pay its employees' salaries.
Jasa Raharja, which provides compensation to the victims of transportation accidents or their families, will also boost its service by cutting waiting periods for compensation disbursement from seven days to between four and five days. (***)
