he body of Akseyna Ahad Dori, 19, who was found floating in a lake at the University of Indonesia (UI) in Depok, West Java, has been flown to his hometown in Sleman, Yogyakarta, for burial, the Depok Police said Wednesday.
The police have yet to confirm the cause of the UI biology student's death, although preliminary investigations showed indications that he committed suicide.
'Our conclusion so far is suicide but we are still investigating the case,' Depok Police chief detective Comr. Agus Salim said on Wednesday.
No bruises were found on the body, which had a bag filled with rocks attached to it. Police found a letter in his rented room in Depok that said, 'Will not return, please don't search for me, sorry for everything.'
Akseyna was a regional Biology Olympiad champion. His mother said in January that her son told her he was disappointed he had failed to clinch a place in the national-level olympiad. Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Martinus Sitompul, however, said the police could not confirm whether that was a motive for suicide.
