ll Bangladeshis stranded in Aceh will be deported by the Indonesian government while asylum seekers from Myanmar will remain in the province while waiting for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' (UNHCR) decision on their fate.
'It's dependant on the Indonesian government to decide when it's ready to send back the Bangladeshi citizens to our country,' said Bangladesh Ambassador to Indonesia MD Nazmul Quaunine during a visit to the migrants' shelter in Kuala Langsa, East Aceh, on Saturday.
He said most of the stranded Bangladeshis intended to go to Malaysia for work and to seek a better life.
'Many of the cases are linked with trafficking [...] operated by criminal organizations,' he said.
Meanwhile, Langsa immigration official Samsul Bahri revealed that his office was identifying the Bangladeshi citizens quickly in order to soon to deport them.
