Among Indonesian Internet users, Lex dePraxis is known as a sort of love doctor.
Lex is the founder of Hitman System, an online education program that aims to help its clients find true love and romance.
'Hitman System began operating in 2006 and it initially only accepted men as clients. Why? Because men tend to be 'orphans' when it comes to romance,' Lex told The Jakarta Post in an email interview.
After several years, Lex realized many women needed help in romance too, and so he founded another education program, Lovable Lady, in 2010.
'And in 2013, we set up kelascinta.com as an umbrella brand for educating both men and women about romance,'
Lex said his course was purely educational and used scientific methods to meet its clients' needs for romance. To develop his methods, he spent a lot of time reading non-fiction works, especially on science and psychology.
'My reading composition consists of 35 percent popular scientific texts and 65 percent academic papers. Honestly, I seldom finish reading a book completely. I mostly read some specific parts for references and I cross-check them with materials from other papers,' he said.
As for fiction, Lex said he rarely read thick novels, preferring comics or graphic novels.

'God's Debris: A Thought Experiment'
by Scott Adams
This is a very short fiction book. It is simple and thought-provoking. It ignites sparks in our minds that we might have never experienced before. I often define this book as the 'kid's meal' version of Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. As the title suggests, Adams contemplates the topic of spirituality and delusion with a Socratic style that provokes both the characters in it and the readers to rethink everything that they believe.
'The Art Of Loving'
by Eric Fromm
I bought this book randomly from a used-book seller for a presentation in college. This book was responsible for plunging me into the rabbit hole that became my career. For the first time in my life, I saw love as a material that could be dissected, reconstructed and even transferred as skills and competence.
'Man's Search for Meaning'
by Victor Frankl
This is a classic book that broaches very heavy and dark topics. It tells the story of the writer, who was placed in a concentration camp during the World War II. Through his struggles, he is finally able to create an existential analytical therapy model. This book heavily influenced my lifestyle, both as a person and a professional.
