he National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) says it is one step closer toward building an experimental nuclear reactor at the Science and Technology Development and Research Center (Puspitek) in Serpong, South Tangerang after recently meeting with Nukem Technology, a subsidiary of Russian nuclear company Rosatom in Germany.
BATAN deputy chief Taswanda Taryo elaborated that the meeting with the Russian nuclear firm was mostly conducted to prepare and design the documents relating to the construction of the reactor. Nukem Technology will contribute to the design of the reactor through an Indonesian-Russian consortium called RENUKO, made up of Indonesian and Russian companies.
'BATAN appreciates the further development of this project through this recent meeting. BATAN's visit was to oversee the design plans for the reactor which will become a national project that will benefit the nation,' Taswanda said on Wednesday.
He added that BATAN appreciated the work and the experience that the Russian nuclear power company Nukem Technology had put into place in the development of a potential nuclear power plant project in Indonesia.
