trong crosswinds forced organizers of the 2015 Telomoyo Cup, an international hang-gliding competition, held this year in Semarang, Central Java, to end its fifth day of competition early on Friday afternoon.
The call was made over safety concerns as the wind blew around 15 kilometers per hour in unstable directions, the organizers reported in a press release.
Race director Tove Heaney did not allow any flights due to the wind, yet seven pilots ' including Chisato Noriji of Japan ' were permitted to do fun flights when the wind was stable enough after the fifth day's races had officially ended.
Following the early closure, Primoz Gricar of Slovenia remained in top spot with 3,305 points in the Race to Goal event.
In second place was South Korean's Junki Jung, who was also runner-up in the 2014 Telomoyo Cup, with 2,880 points.
Defending champion Grant Heaney of Australia was stuck in fifth place with 2,675 points.
As many as 52 pilots from Australia, Japan, South Korea, Slovenia and Indonesia are participating in the event at Mount Telomoyo in Banyubiru, Semarang. The event is set to end on Sunday.
