Angkasa Pura Retail eyes Rp 200b revenue next year

P

T Angkasa Pura Retail, the retail subsidiary of state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I), is aiming for Rp 200 billion (US$14.1 million) in revenue next year, 10 times its expected revenue this year.

Angkasa Pura Retail president director Teges Prita Soraya said that she was optimistic about next year'€™s outlook after the company expanded greatly this year.

'€œWe plan to open a total of 14 outlets this year in cities and areas including Jakarta, Bali and Balikpapan,'€ she said on Monday.

Ten outlets had been opened, she said, with the remaining four to be opened in December, including branches of men'€™s fashion outlet Sir Store at Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan and candy and chocolate shop Cocoa Trees at Adisucipto International Airport in Yogyakarta.

The investment in the expansion reached Rp 30 billion, she said, adding that while 60 percent of its revenue '€” expected to hit Rp 20 billion this year '€” still mostly came from food and beverage businesses, the company was looking to more deeply tap the lifestyle and fashion sectors.

Angkasa Pura Retail recently opened its first store outside of an airport, Our Flock, at Kuningan City shopping mall in South Jakarta.

'€œNext year, we will open another Our Flock store in the old town area of Semarang,'€ she said, adding that it might open in April 2016.

The new store would also target tourists, she said, as the area had seen greater renovation than the corresponding area in Jakarta.

Our Flocks sells clothing, accessories and beauty products from emerging local designers, as well as established national and international brands such as National Geographic.

Teges said that the company now worked with more than 60 local and international brands, including cosmetics firms SK II and Lancome, more than double the 25 brands it worked with in 2014.

The company has also continued developing its 17 in-house brands, which include beauty brand BACI, food brand Rosiepao, Sir Store and coffee shop Republika.

'€œWe will open a Sir Store and a BACI outlet in Terminal II of Juanda International Airport in Surabaya next year,'€ Teges said, adding that the company would also open a food court in Makassar and BACI in Balikpapan and would work with plant firm Mitra Kerinci to launch a premium tea brand.

Angkasa Pura Retail, established in October 2014, was formed as AP I strived to boost the company'€™s non-aeronautical revenues, with reported initial investment of Rp 50 billion. It aims to manage 15 percent of commercial areas under the management of AP I in eastern Indonesia.

AP I president director Sulistyo Wimbo S. Hardjito said that the company remained cautious about non-aeronautical revenues, which were expected to remain at 40 percent for some years.

'€œBut this year they exceeded expectations, hitting 43 percent,'€ he said, adding that the planned expansion was called for given the robust growth of the aeronautical sector. (fsu)
