O

peration Tinombala task force officers found on Tuesday an Indonesian-designed SS2 V2 assault rifle suspected to have been owned by the deceased Santoso aka Abu Wardah, leader of the East Indonesia Mujahidin terrorist group.

The firearm, made by a state-owned military equipment firm, was being carried by Jumiatun Muslim aka Umi Delima, the second wife of Santoso, during a raid on July 18 in North Poso Pesisir where her husband was killed, Tinombala task force spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Hari Suprapto said.

The weapon was found in the hills east of North Poso Pesisir last week. The weapon was left there because Jumiatun could not carry it.

"She lost her energy and could not carry the heavy weapon," Hari told journalists on Tuesday.

Central Sulawesi Police chief Brig. Gen Rudy Sufahriady had previously said that the police would bring Jumiatun to the woods to show them the location of the weapon. Jumiatun, surrendered to Operation Tinombala personnel on Saturday.

Police could not yet question her as she was still being taken care of at the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Palu. Rudy said her illness came from being too long in the woods. He also confirmed that Jumiatun is not pregnant. (rin)
