digital forensic expert presented by Jessica Kumala Wongso’s defense team has said that the editing of closed circuit television (CCTV) footage presented by a prosecution expert witness used a “primitive’ technique that was easily detected.
“The modification technique was quite primitive, so it is easily detected. [Digital forensic expert Mohammad] Nuh only altered the gamma filter in the video to change the pixel intensity to form his opinion about the incident,” said Rismon Sianipar, a digital forensic expert from Mataram University during a hearing at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday.
He made the comment in response to testimony given by prosecution expert witness Mohammad Nuh, who claimed that Jessica had made, “suspicious movements” after enlarging and examining the CCTV footage in question.
From the footage metadata, the average video frame rate was 25 frames per second (FPS), but in another file named File 3, the frame rate was only 10 FPS, which means 15 frames had been lost, Rismon said, adding that the editing had caused the loss of important moments related to the incident.
Rismon added that the indications of modification were very strong. The video modification had caused movement illusions for viewers, he said, especially during the section in which Jessica sits at table 54 while waiting for Wayan Mirna Salihin and Juwita Boon alias Hani to arrive.
Mirna died on her way to hospital after drinking an iced coffee at Olivier café on Jan. 6. Jessica is the only suspect in the murder case. (bbn)
