A

car hit the guardrail of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road on Monday afternoon, causing a street lighting pole to collapse, which subsequently created heavy congestion on the toll road from Tanah Kusir, South Jakarta, to BSD in South Tangerang.

State-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga spokesperson Dwimawan Heru said the accident occurred at 12:45 p.m.

“The driver [that caused the incident] said when he passed Kilometer 02 of the toll road, there was a rainwater puddle he was trying to avoid. He then got out of control and hit the guardrail, causing the pole to collapse,” Dwimawan said on Monday.

The collapsed pole blocked the second and third lane of the toll road. At 1 p.m., field officers succeeded in clearing the road. All three lanes of the road were now operating normally, he said. (bbn)
