T

he Yogyakarta Police have named Christiano Pengarapenta Pengidahen Tarigan, a student at the Faculty of Economics and Business at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), a suspect in a fatal car accident that claimed the life of a student from UGM’s Faculty of Law.

The tragic incident occurred at around 1 a.m. on Saturday on Jl. Palagan Tentara Pelajar in Ngaglik, Sleman.

The victim, 19-year-old Argo Ericko Achfandi, was reportedly slowing down on his motorcycle to make a U-turn at a three-way intersection when he was struck from behind by a white BMW at high speed by the 21-year-old suspect.

The impact threw Argo and his motorcycle several meters, and he died at the scene from severe head injuries. Meanwhile, the BMW subsequently crashed into a parked car on the roadside.

Following a joint investigation by Sleman Police and the Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) team from the Yogyakarta Police Directorate of Traffic, Christiano was officially named a suspect on Tuesday.
