akarta Police have denied that murder suspect Jessica Kumala Wongso was detained in a luxury detention room, away from other detainees during interrogation at the Jakarta Police headquarters.
“There is no luxury detention room. All detainees get the same information, room type and treatment,” said Jakarta Police deputy chief Brig. Gen. Suntana in Jakarta on Tuesday as reported by kompas.com, responding to a statement made by prosecutors during a court hearing on Monday at the Central Jakarta District Court.
Reading the prosecutors’ response to the defense from Jessica’s camp, prosecutor Maylany said Jessica had demanded a special detention room.
“It is the most luxurious room for a detainee,” said Maylany in response to Jessica’s claim that she was detained in a dirty detention room.
Suntana declined to comment further on the statement made by the prosecutors and the photos showed during Jessica’s trial. “Just ask the prosecutors,” Suntana added.
During the trial, prosecutors showed four photos, two of which showed Jessica laying on a sofa. The other photos show Jessica chatting with another woman and undergoing interrogation.
Jessica has been accused of putting a deadly dose of cyanide into a drink consumed by her friend Wayan Mirna Salihin when they met at Olivier restaurant in Central Jakarta on Jan. 6. Prosecutors have demanded a 20-year prison sentence for Jessica. (bbn)
