ttorney General HM Prasetyo has insisted that he would look for the original documents of the investigation authored by a fact-finding team on the murder of prominent rights defender Munir Said Thalib, even though his office has been offered a copy of the investigation's findings.
While Prasetyo praised former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's willingness to hand over a copy of the "lost" investigation document of Munir's death to the government, he, however, doubted the accuracy of the findings in the copy version.
"A copy version is still doubtful. The most trustworthy document is the original version, of course. After we find it, we will begin to evaluate [the findings]," Prasetyo told the journalists on Wednesday.
Prasetyo, however, did not give clear details on whether the AGO would conduct another pro-Justitia process to follow up the findings of the government-commissioned fact-finding team, set up by Yudhoyono's administration in 2004, saying that he would determine further measures later after the original document is finally located.
Amid the fiasco over the unknown location of the original document, Yudhoyono finally spoke up and said he supported the government to continue its efforts to resolve the mystery behind Munir's murder and provide justice for all concerned parties.
Yudhoyono further said he would hand over the copy of the documents, submitted to him by the fact-finding team in 2005, to the government through former State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, who served during his administration. (dmr)
