akarta governor-elect Anies Baswedan will not change his mind about stopping a controversial reclamation project in Jakarta Bay, his team of experts said on Wednesday.
Marco Kusumawijaya, urban planner and member of Anies' transition team, said the former education and culture minister had asked his team to find any possible legal option to discontinue reclamation work.
"For us the reclamation debate is over. Reclamation must be stopped because it brings more harm than benefit."
He said Anies was aware that three of the 17 planned islets had been built and he would therefore aim to use them for facilities that served the interests of the public.
"We haven't decided what to do with them. We might establish a port or a public beach or other public facilities," he said.
