A

model who reported the Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, mayor-elect, Adriatma Dwi Putra, to the Jakarta Police for alleged defamation, has urged the 28-year-old mayor to apologize to her.

“I challenge him, if he’s proven to have defamed [model] Destiara Talita, will he publicly apologize?” her lawyer Zakir Rasyidin said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

Zakir said his client had provided evidence in the form of a video clip that showed how the mayor had defamed Destiana by calling her a prostitute.

The National Awakening Party (PAN) politician also called her stupid, poor and other hurtful terms, Zakir said.

Destiara, who claimed she had been Adriatma’s girlfriend since 2016, reported him to the police on Aug. 8 for insulting her after she urged him to marry her.

Destiara told police Adriatma had promised to wed her in a nikah siri (unregistered Islamic marriage) ceremony, which he then decided against before insulting her in a phone conversation.

Adriatma, who answered the police’s summons on Friday, denied Destiara’s allegation, saying he had only known her since June. (cal)
