Jakarta governor-elect Anies Baswedan and his deputy Sandiaga Uno are set to be inaugurated on Oct.16, a minister said.
Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said he had submitted the inauguration schedule to the State Secretary.
“The inauguration ceremony must be concluded before the tenure of [the previous governor] ends. If it is postponed for a day, we will appoint an acting governor,” Tjahjo said on Monday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The current Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat will end his tenure on Oct. 15, four months after being inaugurated as the governor to replace Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, who was sentenced to two years in prison for blasphemy.
Meanwhile, Anies and Sandiaga were officially declared winners of the Jakarta gubernatorial election in April after competing with Ahok and Djarot in the runoff election. (wnd)
