akarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno claims to have obtained permission from Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to wear sneakers during his term in office.

Sandiaga said the shoes, special edition 910 SandiUno, admitted he felt surprised that wearing official leather shoes in the office was stipulated in Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation No. 23/2016.

"I asked Mas Anies if I can get permission to wear running shoes [in the office], despite the regulation. He asked if [wearing sneakers] would make [my work] easier.

“I said yes, wearing running shoes makes it easier to move around. Moreover, I've decided to jog from home to the office once a week. He then gave his permission," Sandiaga said at a conference held in Kota Kasablanka Mall in South Jakarta on Saturday, as quoted by kompas.com.

However, Sandiaga did not have any plan to file any judicial review related to the regulation, saying that he preferred to focus on solving problems in society such as floods, education and transportation.

Sandiaga has gotten public attention since his first day in office at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, as he wore black sneakers along with his official khaki outfit.

His appearance was quite different from other City Hall officials, including Anies, who gathered in the office that day. (yon/wit)
