A

man has been found dead by local residents approximately two weeks after he passed away at his house in Cimanggis in Depok, West Java.

According to Cimanggis Police chief Comr. Sunarto, the body of the man, identified as Piter Lontoh, was discovered after locals reported smelling an odor near the man’s house.

“Locals said they had not seen Piter for a while, and decided to notify the neighborhood chief, who contacted the man’s family,” said Sunarto on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.

Sunarto said the man had been known to have suffered from a stroke, and passed away in his bed unknown to his neighbors approximately two weeks before being discovered.

The man’s children decided to decline an autopsy by the Cimanggis Police, preferring that the body be released for an immediate funeral. (jlm)
