oekarno-Hatta Airport's Terminal 3 began on Sunday the operation of a “drive-through area” to ease congestion in its parking garage, caused by overflowing passenger pick-ups.
The terminal’s pick-up area for private cars was previously only located on level three of the parking building that connected to the terminal, causing arriving passengers to wait in line in the afternoon and evening, when there were many arrivals.
The drive-through area will allow pick-up services to drive in a loop as drivers look and wait for the arriving passengers. The area is connected to the parking garage and an exit gate.
Airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II does not charge extra for using the drive-through service, which is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Eko Prihadi, the operator’s deputy executive general manager of service and facility, said the pick-up area was inspired by the drive-through service at fast food restaurants, in which people do not have to leave their cars.
“We have designed the area to be comfortable [for visitors],” he said in a statement.
The operator has also added parking spots for motorcycles.
