View all search resultshree out of six cars of the Light Rail Transit (LRT), which arrived in Tanjung Priok two weeks ago, were transported to Kelapa Gading Station late on Friday.
The remaining cars will be transported to the station on Saturday, LRT Jakarta project director Allan Tandiono said.
The six LRT cars from South Korea arrived in Tanjung Priok Port on June 9; however, the transport of the cars to Kelapa Gading Station was delayed by the Idul Fitri holiday from June 11 to 20.
“We can only transport the cars after the Idul Fitri holiday is over,” said Allan Friday as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
He said two of the cars had been put onto the LRT railway to undergo static and dynamic testing.
The cars are part of 16 LRT cars, which will serve the 5.8-kilometer LRT line connecting Velodrome in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, to Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
The construction project for the first LRT line is set to be finished in August ahead of the quadrennial sporting event, the Asian Games. The Games will be held from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2 in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra.
“The LRT will operate before the Asian Games as instructed by the Jakarta governor [Anies Baswedan],” Allan said. (iwa)
