woman has reportedly died after trying to hold on to her belongings during a robbery attempt in Central Jakarta. Cempaka Putih Police head Comr. Rosiana Nurwidajati said the incident occurred on Sunday at 8 p.m.
The incident took place on Jl. Ahmad Yani, Rosiana said on Monday, as quoted by kompas.com.
The woman, an employee of a private company, was reportedly riding on a motorcycle taxi on Jl. Ahmad Yani when the thief tried to rob her of her belonging. Rosiana did not disclose what the item was.
“We’ve questioned four eye-witnesses,” she said.
Another mugging attempt also occurred in Kota Tua, West Jakarta, on Sunday involving a high-ranking official of the Public Works and Housing Ministry.
West Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Hengki Haryadi said the robbers were part of a gang called Tenda Oranye (orange tent) from Teluk Gong, North Jakarta. (vla)
