Acting Bekasi regent Dani Ramdan said he was ready to assist with postoperative treatment costs for bullying victim Fatir Arya Adinata.
cting Bekasi regent Dani Ramdan visited Dharmais Hospital in West Jakarta to meet Bekasi native Fatir Arya Adinata on Friday, who recently had his left leg amputated following a bullying incident.
The case came into the national spotlight after Fatir was allegedly tackled and verbally abused by his classmates in February during his last year at SD Jatimulya 09 state elementary school.
The bullying incident left Fatir with pain in his left leg and difficulty walking, which prompted his mother Diana Novita to focus on treating his physical injuries.
However, doctors diagnosed Fatir with bone cancer in the injured leg, leading to Fatir having his left leg amputated in August.
Dani said he was ready to assist Fatir following the 12-year-old's amputation surgery. "After losing his leg, Fatir will be assisted with a wheelchair and leg support. Fatir also wants a prosthetic leg, so we will prepare one," said Dani.
Dani confirmed that the country’s universal health care (BPJS Kesehatan) had covered Fatir's medical costs.
He also tried to motivate the 12-year-old by showing that people with disabilities had the same opportunity as others to achieve their dreams.
