ndonesia has set 13 agendas to promote investment during the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, from Jan 22 to 25, including investment in the digital economy.
“We will convey the change in Indonesia, as currently the government uses regulations that no longer focus on its role as a regulator, but it acts more as facilitator and accelerator,” said Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara in a press release issued on Thursday.
Among members of the Indonesian delegation in the meeting include Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto and Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) head Thomas Lembong.
Indonesia has set several priorities in the meeting, including concentrating on the development of digital technology and the impact of the environment and new technology on the global economy.
During his five-day stay in Davos, Rudiantara is scheduled to attend 13 forums.
The information ministry will organize an event called Next Indonesian Unicorn (NextIcorn) to boost the digital economy’s role in the country’s economic development.
Rudiantara explained that Indonesia was preparing human resources to develop the digital economy in a collaboration between the government, a number of universities and business communities.
“We’re offering scholarships for 20,000 digital talents to prepare human resources to develop information and computer technology,” he said, adding that the beneficiaries of the program would acquire expertise on artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, cloud computing and digital business.
