span>South Jakarta Health Agency workers have cleaned waterways near the residence of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in Cilandak Barat subdistrict, South Jakarta, following reports from residents about mosquito larvae.
“PPSU [public facility maintenance agency] workers immediately cleaned the drainage system,” agency head Muhammad Helmi said on Thursday as reported by tempo.co.
The subdistrict office also deployed jumantik (mosquito larvae controllers) to monitor the area. The local residents found mosquito larvae in clogged drainage near Anies’ house.
Cilandak Barat subdistrict chief Agus Gunawan said his office would distribute cupang (betta fish) in the drainage system in the area as a preventive measure as the fish feed on mosquito larvae.
Jakarta recorded 2,883 cases of dengue fever from January to March 13 with two fatalities.
