A fire has damaged a city-owned auditorium in Ragunan, South Jakarta. No casualties were reported in the incident on Tuesday.
An official of the Pasar Minggu Fire and Rescue Team, Ruwanto, said the fire had been triggered by a cigarette dropped by a worker that had fallen into piles of wood inside the building.
“The fire was started by a cigarette butt," Ruwanto said, as quoted by kompas.com.
He said his team had been dispatched to the location upon reports from security officers in the area.
Ruwanto added that three fire trucks were sent to the location at 2.30 a.m.
“The fire was extinguished at 3 a.m.,” he said.
The team said about one-fifth of the building was destroyed by the fire. (das)
