he Navy has offered one of its warships, the KRI Banda Aceh, as temporary accommodation for the 1,085 people who were forced to flee their homes on Friday from a fire at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot that quickly spread to the surrounding residential area.

KRI Banda Aceh is a landing platform dock, an amphibious warship with a tank deck for transporting and landing both vehicles and troops.

“We’ve contacted North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim to offer assistance to affected people, including preparing accommodations on the tank deck of KRI Banda Aceh, which is currently docked at the Military Naval Command [Kolinlamil] in North Jakarta," Rear Adm. Yayan Sofiyan said in a press release on Saturday.

To assist the injured, the Navy has also placed the naval command’s health office on standby. According to Yayan, this is in line with orders from Admi. Muhammad Ali for the Indonesian Navy to contribute to local communities.

The latest update from the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) shows that 214 residents are still at shelters under the agency's coordination as of Monday morning. Of these, 186 people are housed at the offices of the North Jakarta Red Cross, while the remaining 28 are staying at the Rasela child-friendly integrated public space (RPTRA).

BPBD Jakarta is continuing to assist the affected residents in coordination with the Jakarta Social Agency.
