tate-owned train operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) temporarily stopped on Tuesday morning Commuter Line services from two stations connecting South Tangerang and South Jakarta following a truck accident.
The service disruption occurred after the truck hit a power line pole between the two stations, Pondok Ranji Station in South Tangerang in Banten and Kebayoran Station in South Jakarta, causing the pole to lean over on to the track and block train access.
"For the safety and comfort of our passengers we need to halt services between Pondok Ranji and Kebayoran stations," KCI wrote in its official Twitter account at 8.45 AM. "Our personnel are working to fix the issue. We're sorry for the inconvenience.”
According to Pesanggrahan Police in South Jakarta, the accident happened because the truck failed to make a U-turn in a narrow street beside the railway.
"The road was too small and the truck slipped onto the railway and hit a utility pole," Pesanggrahan Police chief Comr. Tedjo Asmoro said, as reported by Kompas.id.
The incident left hundreds of passengers stranded at 18 train stations along the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung route, including at Kebayoran and Pondok Ranji stations, local media reported.
Normally, the route serves more than 150,000 commuters a day.
